Rick Wycis
Hi my name is Rick Wycis, I started riding horses when I was six. I used to go to the barn twice a week with my sister and watch her in her riding lessons. One day while I was at the barn I told my mom that I wanted to try riding horses one day. That next week I was able to get on a horse and walk around, I was so happy!
From then on I had lessons with my sister twice a week. As I grew up I participated in 4-H and learned how to care for horses and started going to horses shows. I did really well and when I was ten I qualified to go to the State Horse Show. I rode in Children's Pleasure, Children's Equitation on the Flat, and Children's Equitation over fences. We were New Jersey Cape May County State Champions for three years in a row! As I got older I stated working for my instructor Eleanor Robinson-Valtri at Pembrook Farm to pay for lessons and showing. I then started to going to "A" shows and rode clients horses in Children's Hunters, Pre- Green Hunters, Low Working Hunters, and the Adult Amateurs. From there after I started teaching full time.
As a teaching professional I worked with Frank Madden, Karen DePrato, Frank Hernandez, and Greg Best. Our students qualified for the Marshall and Sterling Finals witch were held in Saugerties, NY. Out of fifty to sixty riders in each class our kids did really well. With a First, two Seconds, a Third, an Eighth, and a Ninth. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone at TES and teaching great lessons! Horses have taught me so much through the years and I want to teach kids and adults how to learn from horses, the same way I did! Horses were my best teacher and I want to teach you how to learn the same lessons and reach your individual goals.
The most important thing to learn is the simple pleasures of just horse'n around!!
